Job Title: Head of Accounts
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer / Managing Director
Location: Lagos
Job Summary:
The Head of Accounts oversees the financial health of the organization by managing accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and leading the accounts team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulatory requirements
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Monitor internal controls and implement process improvements
- Manage account reconciliations and audit preparation
- Lead and supervise the accounting team
- Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies
- Analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA) is a plus
- Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, with leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and reporting
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, SAP)
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
